Milwaukee has a lot of great museums from the obvious like Discovery World, Harley Davidson Museum, Milwaukee Art Museum, and Milwaukee Public Museum to more obscure like the North Point Lighthouse.

Outside

BayView Farmers Market – June 16 will likely be the first weekend this market is hosted in 2018 so expect a lot of greens to be sold, but it is one of the largest in Milwaukee and the view from the park is lovely.

Lake Park – Originally built in 1894, Lake Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted who also designed Central Park and U.S. Capital Grounds. We love the architecture of the bridges and the lighthouse and the paths along the lake are one of our favorite places for walks or runs. Many of our outdoor shenanigans are hosted here as we can play outside without having to mow the grass.

Lakefront – Milwaukee’s lakefront is the hub of residents and visitors during the summer and we are no different. We like to walk along the sidewalks, get custard at NorthPoint Custard (although Kopp’s is better) and play at Bradford Beach. A little known fact is that this stretch of land was built beginning in 1907 and wasn’t completed to its current state until the 1980s. This is why the road along the lake is Lincoln Memorial but the road along the bluff is Lake Drive – prior to 1907, Lake Drive was the closest road to the lake until the park was built.

Sailing Center – It is no secret that Lake Michigan is the crown jewel of Milwaukee, but unfortunately most people never experience getting on the lake. The beauty of the sailing center is that for a modest membership, you can use any of their sixty boats. All four of us love getting out to sail, although Laura doesn’t like heeling over nearly as much as the kids do.

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center – The kids will be quick to tell you that they love this place in part because they both were able to go to preschool here. We all love it today as it is a great escape from the city without having to drive very far.

Urban Ecology Center – The gateway to the bike path that Laura and Jason like to ride and a nice place for a walk or a run on the river. The UEC provides great opportunities to spend time in nature and has one of the best prairie restorations around.

Other Random Thoughts

We love Milwaukee, if you are struggling to find something to do, just ask.

Food Wow, so much great food in Milwaukee. I really don’t know where to start.
